The insight of children

My four year old daughter turned to her little brother on Sunday and said with a happy smile on her face 'Mummy and Daddy are being nice to each other today.'

This follows on from the night before of her saying ' Mummy why are you and Daddy always angry? Be happy Mum smile.'

This comment certainly hit me. Hubby and I talked about it later that night realising that even though we thought we were doing ok with our stress levels around the renovation there was an obvious tension.

So Sunday we decided to have a bit of fun and embrace Halloween with the kids.

And since then we have been making more of an effort to remain calm, go take time out if needed and try and just enjoy the process. As they say 'life is about the journey.'

  1. Two gorgeous witches. Sometimes it takes little ones reflections to wake you up!

  2. Its amazing how much more kids pick up on than we often think. I think its uch a great move to turn it into a positive though and have some fun, just as you did :)

  3. I had to smile as children always say it as they see it :-) Renovation is stressful and I would love to say that we have not had an argument during our renovation journey but alas it is not true - there have been a few things said in the heat of the moment when things are not going as anticipated and I live with a builder....

  5. Yes, often something that builds up slowly without noticing but is worth noticing. Good on you for doing something about it and being so honest. I hope you had a nice Sunday and I hope you have a calm week. Lou.

  6. That is just adorable! Kids might say the most annoying things but you have to agree they are correct most of the time. Have a beautiful day, Kellie xx

  7. Very enlightening to have your children point this out and then make the changes needed. Good on you, and hope you and your hubby have some smooth times with the renovations to come. Love the photo.

  8. Kids just tell it like they see it....which can be a bit full frontal but just what we often need to hear. How did they get so wise?
Glad you could have a nice Halloween together.
