Bougainvillea a Mediterranean inspiration

I have loved Bougainvillea ever since we saw a lot of it growing on the Amalfi Coast of Italy. The stunning colours against the Mediterranean and the stone houses has always inspired me. So much so that I planted a vine as soon as we bought our house some eight years ago.

Now said vine is hidden down the side of the new extension, so will look at moving, but in the meantime have been bringing it inside.

  1. I love bougainvilleas too Georgy - our new house has a bright purple one growing against the wall! I love the pink of your one, it's gorgeous and a great idea to pick it for the indoors too!
Thanks for your comment re our new house, yes you're on the right track re the style!

  2. I love them too. I'm thinking that we have to have one in our garden when we start the work on it. Don't know where it will go at the moment and what colour to choose but there will be one.
Good to see you back here again :)

  3. Bougainbilleas have the most gorgeous flowers but they tend to go completely feral in North Queensland. At my old place there was a vine that completely covered (all four walls and roof) a 6x6m shed. And it doesn't ever die! That said, it's still rather pretty; maybe I just need to find a way to incorporate it into my garden in a contained manner! :)
