Cover style

I have discovered over the past few weeks just how good magazine covers are for inspiration, you don't even need to look inside but of course most of the fun is flipping through the pages and reading about the homes featured.

Love the natural look with hints of blue and green...

Over the past few weeks I have have spent a lot of time in bed sick, firstly with a bad virus and then pneumonia, giving me plenty of time to look at magazines. Luckily for me I have two years worth of Home Beautiful and Real Living in my bookshelves, as family have kindly given me subscriptions to both for Christmas.

Oh and red and blue together against a white back drop (love the Christmas issues)......

We also have hit delays with the build, we are at fixing stage but now moving very slowly waiting for a tiler to come so others can finish off. I was warned this would happen, you think you are nearly there and then the last bit seems to take ages.

Got to love blue especially with white....

At least this has meant I haven't had to deal with tradies much while at home feeling rotten and I have been distracting myself with trying to figure out what style to go with in the new living space. These pictures will give you an idea of what I like, now just have to work out what elements to take from them.

And can't go past red, especially for Winter........

The wait continues

Good news our double vanity and shower for our en-suite are ready to be delivered. I would love to say that this means we will have them here in the next day or so, but instead I have asked if we can keep them in the warehouse for a couple of weeks as we still don't have a building start date.

Mizu Walk-in wetroom

It has been over two weeks since we signed our building contract and now we wait for the building permits. Once we have these we will get the call from the Site Manager to discuss next steps and start date.

I have never been good at waiting and not having a definite start date is something I struggle with as I like to plan. So trying to ignore this we have picked all our fittings.

My two favourite magazines

While I wait though, I do like having the time to look at my favourite magazines (something I haven't packed) and cut out pictures for my style file. And to my blogging friends looking at your blogs and getting inspiration and ideas.

A Red wall?

If you are about to head on a renovation journey I would highly recomend buying the July edition of Home Beautiful. They have a special issue inside of real-life renovation including plans budgets, advice & lessons learned.

One part I really liked is that they list in detail components of various rooms in the houses featured such as paint colours, appliances, flooring, fixtures and the list goes on. My favourite was one called French affair. I particularly like the red feature wall around their living room fireplace, while the rest of the room is painted white. This is something I have been thinking of doing for a long while but wasn't sure as couldn't find the right red. The red featured is apparently Taubmans Easy Coat in Streetwise.

So what do you think, would it suit? I think my hubbie might need some convincing. Also let me know if you know of another great red paint.
