Food and flowers - Blogtberfest day 13

The weather this week in Melbourne has been cold and miserable, so time to add some Spring colour to the house. So a trip to Bunnings where I bought both food and flowers.

I love Rosemary, both the look in a pot and smell and taste in cooking. I use this herb a lot with a favourite dish of mine being crunchy roast potato with Rosemary and sea salt. Mmm, my mouth is just watering thinking about it.

The rosemary also looks great next to a pot of these bright red geraniums.

Italy - my colour inspiration

Packing up bookcases has meant a trip down memory lane as we pull out photo albums and the photos of Italy are certainly among my favourites.

My colour inspiration - Mediterranean blue, blooming bougainvillea, pots of red geraniums, white wash buildings, natural stone and the list goes on......

Ode to the Geranium

Many years ago I used to think the geranium was the kind of flower my grandma had in her garden, so back in my early twenties didn't think it was appropriate for our apartment balcony.

Now since having visited Italy a couple of times where I saw them in abundance, I love them and have them growing in many spots in our garden.

Not only do they add great colour to the house and garden, they also flower most of the year and are hardy in our dry Australian climate.
